<<OOC: This log takes place before the evacuation of Decks 2 & 3 sorry all, it took a bit longer than we wanted to get out.>>

Commander Marcus had spent the last week researching every possible faction and organization that would stand to benefit from the failure of a romulan commodore on the first joint mission between the Federation and Romulan Empire. The list was alarmingly long. however few of them had the resources to pull off the placment of an operative on a starfleet ship with out suspicion. He left his office and stepped out into the corridor then entered the turbolift at the end of the hall. "Bridge" he called out.

The lift doors opened and Dylan walked out carrying a PADD in his hand. he crossed the bridge quickly and stopped in front of the Commodores ready room and pressed the chime as he waited for the reply.
"Waiting for me Commander?" Shiarrael exited the conference room tailed by two other crewmembers who hurried to the turbo lift. "Sorry if you had to wait long, I was dealing with some behavior difficulties." She grinned and entered her office beckoning Marcus to come in and sit down. "So why are you here?" She asked making her way behind the desk.
Dylan entered as he was instructed and stood in front of her desk till she gave him permission to sit. "I have the results of the investigation sir." he said
"You did?" She asked pulling out her chair and sitting down. Folding her arms across the desk she looked at him "well Commander, what did you find?"
"A great deal sir, though little hard evidence to go on. My findings are mostly an educated guess at this point." Dylan said as he passed the PADD to the Commodore. "I have had the crew questioned regarding the Romulan murders as well asked Lt Dlya to look into the poisoning of Lt.Cmdr Ch'tan. Aside from understandable tension between the different crews, I have not found any motive for either crime. In fact Lt. Johnson and I found and decoded a message claiming responsibility for the crimes, and outlining others, hidden in the subspace wake of the warp engines." Marcus said as he outlined the basics for his theory.
"Case closed?" Shiarrael asked with a neutral expression. Inside she was smiling- grinning in fact. The memory of the culprit's dying moments were still etched in her mind and like a good joke she recalled it every so often to make her smile.
"Not exactly sir." Marcus replied. "I managed to locate our puppet master, The man Ensign dicari described as Mr. Del; isn't who he claims to be." Marcus studied the Commodore's reaction. "I have been thinking of anyone who would have a personal grudge against you sir, as the incidences all seemed to have something against you in some way.
Shiarrael smiled. How many people have a grudge against me? She wondered and then added "too long" in a verbal thought while looking at the Commander "the list of people who dislike me- even the short one is considerably lengthy. Aboard this ship there are a number- perhaps less then I think, but still a good number that do not enjoy my presence. There are numerous reasons for people in Starfleet to hate me. Before my exile I killed many of their colleagues."
"Understandable sir." Marcus said realizing the importance of knowing ones enemies. "One thing does concern me sir. " he said as he passed a second PADD to the commodore. "The communication that Alice picked up was set to activate if a certain code was not entered every 12 hours, A dead man switch if you will." He paused to gauge her reaction. "I find it odd that someone would go to all this trouble to cause so much mayhem, only to disappear without a trace. Unless of course he was dealt with prior to the end of the investigation."
"We can only hope." Shiarrael answered withholding the smirk she was sorely tempted to display "I suggest you keep vigilant Commander."
"Yes sir." Marcus replied. He watched her expression, it was nearly Vulcan like in lack of emotion. "It would certainly be convenient wouldn't it?" He nodded to her quickly. Before taking a step back in preparation to leave. "With your permission sir, I won't take up more of your time. I should get back to my duties."
"Convenient?" Shiarrael grinned "I should think it more a blessing." She nodded her head "dismissed Commander."
Marcus nodded, meeting Shiarrael's eyes briefly. They exchanged a look that Told The Commodore that he knew more than he was letting on, and by not mentioning it; that he understood her reasoning. "One soilder to another." so it seemed. He also knew that he had placed himself in a difficult position. If Starfleet were to ever figure out what he had surmised, it would not look good on his oath as a Star Fleet officer to uphold the values of the Federation.
He turned and left the ready room. He had the difficult job of organizing the evacuation of the the decks effected by the power fluctuations.
