[USS Charon] SD240909.11 Joint Duty Log - CO/ASci Commo/Ens Shiarrael t'Rehu and Galen Rufo - "Sizing Each Other Up"

=/\= Deck 1, Captain's Ready Room - USS Charon =/\=

After Arkady headed out to get some sleep Galen decided to get some more work done he was still feeling uneasy on the idea of that rift being closed he didn't know much about the temporal side of science but he knew that most rifts were created naturally not artificially from a lab. "Computer location of the Commodore." Galen said always hating the sound of the computers voice.

"The Captain's Ready Room Deck 1." The computerized monotone female voice said.

After figuring out where the Commodore was Galen picked up his PADD with his proposal for the probe drops and then made his way up to deck 1 and the Captain's Ready Room. Walking onto the bridge Galen made no eye contact with anyone and made his way straight over to the Captain's Ready Room door and hit the chime and did the common wait.

After a long mission there was a lot of do.  Most of it involved paperwork, in was in this regard that the Galae and Starfleet were much alike.  At least a dozen PADDs decorated the edges of her desk and Shiarrael was immersed in one when the chime rang.  "Enter."  Shiarrael said and looked up at the door.

Walking into the ready room Galen walked up to the desk, "Commodore." Galen said, "I have a proposal for dropping some probes where the rift was opened, closed and also near the planet." Galen said setting the PADD on the desk wanting to get this meeting over with as fast as possible so he could get to work on the probes and have them ready to go and also Romulans made him uneasy like any other race including some Cardassians.

Shiarrael picked up the PADD and glanced over the information.  When she finished her perusal of the data she looked up at Rufo, it was easy to notice his discomfort "is something wrong Ensign?"  She pointed at the chair across from her "please sit down and explain this to me."  She slid the PADD towards him "I find the words a bit too difficult."  She smirked wondering how the Stellar Cartographer would react to her facetious comment.

Taking a seat Galen forced himself to remember that this Romulan was as much Federation as he was but that still didn't stop him from trusting her or even wanting to spend any long time in the same room as her. "No ma'am just tired." He lied and then picked up the PADD, "I want to send the probes out so that we can make sure the rift was actually closed and that the planet is going to keep its orbit in its new home." Galen said being marginally polite mainly with just using ma'am.

Stubborn one, Shiarrael smiled.  The stubborn ones tended to be the most entertaining to tease but she resisted the urge "do what you feel is necessary to confirm the safety and stability of this planet."

Galen looked at the Commodore trying to figure her out he knew that she was just as stubborn as he was which made things a little bit more difficult but also challenging. "Are you not even concerned of what we just did with the rift?" Galen said not thinking so much for other species but mainly for himself and his species.

"Should I be?"  Shiarrael asked "have you made a mistake that you haven't informed me about?  As far as I know we have successfully saved this planet and the two hundred and fifty million people that reside on it.  The probes will confirm the success- and if not I have faith you and the rest of this crew will find a solution.  Or is my faith misplaced Ensign?"

"No there was no mistakes on my side." Galen said wishing that he didn't bring this up but he was glad he did he was still trying to get a read on this Romulan. "And as for faith at this point in time you haven't misplaced it." Galen said knowing that he couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't screw up and with that he stood up, "I'll get the probes ready and we can launch them within the hour." Galen said nodding to the Commodore.

"Good, then stop wasting time here and get to work."  Shiarrael lifted her hand and pointed at the door- the meaning of the gesture obvious.  "I expect a report when you finish the analysis."

"Yes ma'am." Galen said with a slight snarl after making it to the turbolift Galen had to give the Commodore the win for getting a rise out of him but she was a tough leader and Gale could agree with that he still didn't trust her but then again he rarely trusted anyone since the rebuilding of the Cardassian Empire.
