[USS Charon] SD240909.07 - Joint Log - Admiral Cerywyn, Commodore Rehu, & Commander Kanryth

<<OOC: Last bit of cerywyn lines were written by me (as requested by Cerywyn), hope its not too poorly done :P>>

[USS Charon, Bridge]

"Commodore, engineering is reporting that the new communications systems have been successfully installed and integrated.  Also, Commander Kanryth has just beamed over from the Quantum Fury and is on his way to the bridge."  Ensign Peddles, who was manning ops in place of Dicari, spoke nervously through the sound of Shiarrael's nails tapping on her armrest's console.

"I see, have security find him and ensure that the Commander does not make any unneeded detours."  Standing up Shiarrael made her way towards the ready room.  Is he deliberately trying to agitate me?  Coming aboard without notice, how ridiculous!  The rudeness was appalling but she knew the Commander was well aware of that.  From their first encounter he didn't seem to be another stupid Starfleet Captain, of which Shiarrael had come to know there were many.  He was not only knowledgeable but quite calculated with his actions.  All of which seemed to be focused on raising her ire.  "I will be in my ready room waiting for him.  In the meantime use the new communication systems to access the Romulan communication network and contact Admiral Cerywyn."

"Yes ma'am."

Entering her ready room Shiarrael made her way behind the desk and stopped.  After a minute of studying her desk she reached down and picked up the holo-portrait of her kids.  When the image was taken they were infants but now those infants were over a year old and the Charon was almost ten months into her two year mission.  "Time moves too quickly" she whispered and set the portrait back down.  Pulling out her chair she sat down, crossed her arms, and waited.

Her wait wasn't long.  Three minutes after she sat down the ready room chime rang "Commodore, this security.  Commander Kanryth is here to see you."

"Send him in."  The doors parted and Commander entered Shiarrael remained in her seat.  Instead of offering him the chair across from her she just glared at him "welcome aboard the Charon Commander."

Khiy made it a point to look at the security personnel lining the doorway to the ready room before they closed "some welcome.  I thought we were allies."

"Allies?"  Shiarrael laughed "allies, what a ridiculous word.  We are not allies."  She uncrossed her arms and pointed at her uniform "we are colleagues and unless I am misinformed you are my junior."  Shiarrael laced her fingers, pressed the bottom of her palms onto the desk top, and then leaned forward "you don't approve me being here.  Correct?"

"Whether or not I approve of your presence doesn't matter.  You are here.  Therefore I am obligated to carry out my duty."

"Carry out your duty?"  Shiarrael scoffed "irea emael kla'le thaessu-a.  Reh docgae kllhwnia rhifv mhafv aei!"  The reaction that appeared on the Commander's face told Shiarrael he understood her clearly.  She smiled after further proving her suspicion about his origin "now, I suggest you learn some manners while you're in my presence because I will not let you goad me into appearing the fool."

Khiy's face was rigid after her comments but he appeared to swallow his first thought before speaking "my apologies Commodore.  It was not my intention to offend you."

Her chirping commbadge prevented Shiarrael from responding.  "Rehu here, what is it?"  She asked after pressing the device.

"Commodore- our message to Versailles has been rerouted to Concordia but Admiral Cerywyn is receiving."

"Good.  Patch it through to the ready room viewer."  Shiarrael stood up and moved out from behind her desk to stand next to the Commander.  The view screen on her wall lit up and Admiral Cerywyns tired visage appeared on the screen.  "Greetings Admiral."

As Cerywyn sat curled with her feet under her sipping a very hot cup of tea, she was reminded for a brief moment as to why she loved the Concordia so much. It suited her - especially at times like this. She was doing a very good job of sulking and had only grudgingly admitted to herself that she was tired when the ships yeoman broke her train of thought to announce an incoming hail from the USS Charon. "Thank you yeoman, that'll be all."

Cerywyn walked to her desk, tapped the console and a moment later, the link connected and she saw Shiarrael's face. She inclined her head in greeting. "What can I do for you Commodore?" she asked.

"I have kindly been informed" Shiarrael used the term 'kind' in a loose manner but hid her displeasure beneath a veneer of vague insincerity "that the Marines I placed on the Romulan outpost for their attempted mutiny are now missing."  Although the term 'marooned' was likely more apt to that situation "aside from that minor difficulty the Charon has just completed a first contact situation.  Full details of which will be uploaded to your databanks for later review.  Classification is highest level."

Cerywyn tapped a finger on her desk and studied the image of both the Commodore and Commander.  To say her patience after the recent ordeal was thin would have been an understatement.  Taking in a deep breath she took another cautious sip of her hot tea but frowned and pushed it away finding the beverage increasingly bitter after the report she just heard.  With a disapproving glare Cerywyn turned her attention back to the two officers on screen "I would say the term 'minor' doesn't adequately describe a situation where Starfleet personnel- criminal or otherwise go missing.  I will review your report when I get a chance.  In the meantime it might be wise for you to find out what happened to them.  Understood?"

Shiarrael nodded her head expecting the response but with what little Kanryth told her she expected nothing to come of an investigation, but nonetheless it would happen.

"Commander Kanryth."  Cerywyn looked offscreen for a moment to massage her throbbing temples.  When she finished she looked back at the screen and focused her attention on the young Commander "when you finish transferring personnel, return to versailles.  We're in bad shape presently and need to solidify our resources."  She glanced at Shiarrael "and I expect that you will keep in touch with the upgraded communication equipment."

"Understood Admiral."  Khiy responded.

Shiarrael simply nodded her head in acknowledgment of the comment.

"Good.  Cerywyn out."
