[Ch'Dabhae]
Their arrival seemed to have attracted attention after all.
With the shuttle's forward window facing the village, Sakarra had a fairly good view of the main street and the first row of the small houses, built in a similar fashion as the one's in the bigger settlement although to the young Vulcan's eye there were a few more familiar attributes to them. For one, the little cottage to the left had an actual walled garden attached to it, with the elegantly slanting roof curving all the way to the top of said wall.

High metal gates provided a glimpse of the flowers and what appeared like local vegetables growing in the garden. And peering just right over the top of this wall were two curious faces, one of which obviously belonged to a child no older than eight or nine years. The other, wearing a much more suspicious expression, seemed to be in his teens.
Other than that, no living being was visible but the Vulcan got the distinct impression that this could change rather rapidly. They were being observed, of that much she was certain.

As a cool but thankfully very fresh breeze, saturated with the scents of mountains and an abundance of water, came blowing in through the shuttle's open hatch, Sakarra slowly turned in her seat and addressed the Security Chief in a low, level voice "Commander, we seem to be the subject of two children's interest."
Very slowly so as to not appear threatening to any of the unseen watchers, she pointed her chin towards the window.

Dylan looked at the children. As the shuttle doors opened and the ship landed, Dylan was the first out. He moved to be seen by the children. "Hello there. Don't be afraid, we are here to help." he said to their direction. He still kept out a watchful eye and an ear for any other unwelcome intruders.
Cyrin began running a few diagnostics of the shuttle after opening the hatch, when he noticed the children as well. At least the air in this area smelled fresher.
As the Commander cautiously proceeded towards the village, Sakarra secured her console and then nodded for Cyrin to follow.
Walking up slowly behind the Security Chief, the young Vulcan kept her level gaze on the main street. Whatever had happened at the other settlement seemed to have taken place here as well, or at least to some extent. Hastily repaired doors and windows were one indication, but thankfully there were no body piles in sight. Or smelling distance, for that matter.

Off to the left of them, the little one's had ducked out of sight but three adult Rihannsu now proceeded cautiously out of one of the larger buildings, throwing suspicious glances towards the odd looking Federation shuttle.
Tilting her head thoughtfully to one side, Sakarra stopped just beside the towering human and very slowly raised her hand in the Vulcan salute.

Dylan forced himself to focus and stay alert without jumping the gun. The sights on this planet reminded him of so many horrors he had seen when behind Romulan lines on covert missions. He held his weapon ready, but not in a hostile way. "I am Commander Marcus of the Federation starship Charon." he said. "This is Lt. Tyrax and Ensign Dicari and Doctor tr`Kethry."
Cyrin nodded politely as his name was called, he wasn't comfortable being here. He looked at the people trying to get a feel of their feelings as he waited for further instructions.
The Romulan who probably owned the home finally came out a few minutes after the Commander introduced himself. He had a rifle slung over his shoulder, anyone who had fought against the Romulans would know that they made these by the warbird load. He seemed to sigh as he stepped out into the view of the Starfleet officers. "I'm not sure if I should be happy you're here or not," he said giving them a look over.
"What are you doing here?"
"What are you doing here?"
"You have sent a distress call, yes? And from what we have seen thus far, you went through unusual troubles to do so." The young Vulcan replied levelly, allowing the man to scrutinize the away team's appearance at his leisure.
The ever protective Security Chief was hovering over the small woman with a no-nonsense air about him that she might have found mildly amusing, if not touching, were the circumstances not of such tragic proportions.
Cyrin on the other hand was shifting uncomfortably next to Sakarra, although she got the distinct impression that he sensed full well what her instincts already insisted on - these people meant them no harm. At least, not right now.
As for the surgeon, he seemed to be back to his default state of utter disinterest, however that might change in a hurry, considering his past behavior patterns.

A few more wary faces appeared in doorways and windows, but thus far none of those seemed inclined to inspect the strangers from up close.
"It is understandable that you did not expect a Starfleet vessel to answer. However, we are here. Would you please elaborate on your circumstances and how we may assist?"

Sakarra could have sworn she heard a small huff from one of the Romulans standing across from them, just as she was fairly certain that she was the main focus of people's attention. Logically, they must have at least seen a Vulcan before, no?
Cyrin continued to stand there listening to the conversation going on, the Romulans were intrigued by them, but also scared of them for some reason. All of their emotions, feelings were washing over him. He wasn't used to unfamiliar emotions. He leaned in towards the Lieutenants ear and whispered carefully, "I am sure you are aware of this, but they seem to be frightened of us but intrigued. Perhaps if everyone holstered their weapons?" he suggested.
Dylan looked around at the broken village. at least there were no piles of bodies here, but it was still far from pristine. He was a soldier, not a diplomat. "Look," he said. "Someone from this colony sent a distress call, we are here to help. We can offer food and supplies, as well as make sure that what ever happened here wont happen again." He paused. "Look around you, would it hurt to trust us?" he asked.
"Distress signal? What distress signal," the Romulan seemed more agitated at the mention of a distress signal. His eyes narrowed as they continued to talk. "We sent no distress signal. We have no means to do so, not after we lost the capital." He seemed annoyed at the fact that these Starfleet officers were even here. "We lost the city to the plague eight years ago."
He studied them for a moment longer. "Are you here to stop the abductions then? Since when does Starfleets grasp reach this far out into the Empire?" he asked.
"It doesn't Officially. We are on a Joint exploration mission with your Government. The Charon is crewed by StarFleet and Romulan crew. That is why we are out this far." He paused. "As for the Abductions, we will do what we can to help you."
