[Federation Colony 12, Rihnnasu\Federation border.]
The shocking surprize attack by the Empire against the Federation had been as brutal as it was efficent. Starbase 220 had already fallen and the Imperial fleet was quickly pushing the weak willed humans back further into their own space. The Tal'Shair was not inactive during this time. It had come to their attention that a small human colony was foundering at the border of the now war torn nations but more importantly a scientist of great knowlage was present there. Knowing that the man had vast understanding of Federation technolagy had made this a mission of surpassing importance to the Tal'Shair.
The small Romulan troop shuttle flew gracefully through the sky toward the out cropping of rocks on the outskirts of the colony's only city. Normally even under cloak they would have been detected by the planet's ground sensors but Rhiana had come up with a bold plan if very risky.
Before they had approched the planet they had the IRW Saber destroy several of the large astroids that made up the rings of the thrid planet of the system. As the chunks of rocks hurtled toward the Federation Colony and burned away becomeing Metorites the small stelthy Tal'Shair ship slipped in and flew with the debris. Luckily for the Spook squad the ship's pilot was one of the best in the Tal'Shair and even with primary shields down and just the mild deflectors to protect them he managed to keep the ship out of the path of certin death.
As the Metaor shower rained down on Colony 12 the shuttle hurtled down into the prechoosen landing area. As soon as the landing struts hit the ground the transport's gangway lowered and fifteen black armored agents ran down and took cover in the rocks. Rhiana took up her postion of foward scout and used her powered binoculars with thermal optic power to check for enemy activity nearby. A few moments later she gave the go ahead to move foward.
As the dark shadowy warriors approched the colony's out laying area the team commander handed them their packets. Squad A was responsable for aquiring the doctor himself. The heavist weapons went with them as inteligence had reported a large garrasion of Starfleet Marines guarding him. Rhiana's squad B had what many would consider the easier task. On the outter most out cropping of buildings, overlooking the beautiful blue green ocean was the doctor's family home. To ensure the doctor's cooperation with their interrogations Rhiana's group were to kidnap the young wife and two children of the doctor. Squad C were to make their way to the colony's terraforming and lifesupport station to destroy all current life on the planet, Making it seem like an industiral accident.
Rhiana raised her hand over her head and pumped twice pointing to the left. Her squad stood and moved like theives in the night toward the city as the other Romulan warriors moved toward their own destinies. The building they approached was a middle sized souless affair common to Starfleet outposts. It's grey walls were shaped with sharp angles and gave only a sense of utlitarian comfort. Rhiana's thoughts on the architecture were interrupted by the sight of a Starfleet security officer on point patrol around the house grounds. Raising her hand and flatening it out made the Squad immidately stop moving and go prone to the ground.
Signalling for them all to fan out Rhiana crawled on her belly toward the unsuspecting officer. She knew that energy weapons fire would quickly give away their postion and the opperation as a whole, so she carefully unsheathed her Kalen the blade darkened by staining so it wouldn't gleam in the moonlight.
The Yellow tuniced young human looked barely old enough to be considered a man and stampped his feet slightly as the night was particually cold this evening. Though there was a war on it never occured to him that this little out of the way dump would seen any action. Foolishly he looked up watching the shooting stars of the metor shower pass over head. The young ensign smiled remembering his home on Earth and how the shooting stars were considered lucky and made a silent wish that he could finely ask his friend out on a date.
Rhiana silently crept up behind the young boy as he was day dreaming and slowly stood to her feet. The boy lowered his head and sighed contentedly as the last of the shower passed over head. But before he could take another step foward he winced ever so breifly and tried to call out as the Kalen's blade severed his spinal cord at the base of his neck.
Rhiana carefully lowered the boy's body to the ground stareing into his wide opened and shocked eyes. It always made her ponder why the dead's eyes become so doll like when their soul left their body. Raising her hand she called her squad back to her and followed in the path of the now dead starfleet officer's partol route.
As the small shadow squad moved up to the door of the house Rhiana gestured for their Tech specialist to move foward. The young Arrian moved up to the doors locking mechinisim and pulled out his Multicorder checking for alarms and at what frequency the lock would trigger and open. Rhiana pulled her Vrelnec from it's scabbard and watched the prermiter of the house when suddenly a loud explosion rang off in the distance. Squad's A and C had begun their work.
Immidately after the explosion Klaxxons begain to ring out across the city and the lights inside the house sprang to life. No longer worried about stealth Rhiana seathed her blade and pulled his Disruptor from it's holster and vaporized the door. "Go go go!" she shouted to her unit and they poured through the new opening like water through a sive.
Outside the Marine Barracks begain to empty as the Federation soldiers responded to the new threat. A small squad noticed the dead boy laying on the ground near the VIP's house and moved off to investigate. erie'Arrin tr'Mulz shouted out to Rhiana, "Incomming warriors Rekkhai!" Rhiana nodded to two of her men. "Go get the wife and children, Do not harm them unless nessicary. Remember the children are the priority if you have to kill the woman to get to them." she said as she moved foward and brought out her disruptor rifle and moved off to set up a kill box with her squad.
The Starfleet Marines were efficent and cautious as they moved toward the house in standard two by two cover formation. As the young Lieutenant stepped up into the houses blareing flood lights he heard a sound ring out to his left. Crying out as he turned watching his left arm disentagrate before his eyes he fired back at the direction the shot came from.
The Marines quickly droped down and begain to open fire toward the oncomming disruptor fire. "Stan get the Lieutenant he's down but not out!" shouted a Gunny to Corporal Stanzanellie. The Corporal charged foward rolling along the ground to avoid being shot and grabbed ahold of the injured officer. As he drug him back toward cover another silverly beam shot out from the right hand side of the Marines and sliced the Corporal's head from his shoulders.
"AMBUSH!" shounted the Gunny as he noticed the outline of the Romulan warriors on the horizon taking careful aim he popped off a blast from his Phaser rifle and hit one of the attackers squarly in the chest. A cry of agony echoed in the air as the Romulan vaporized from the rifles power.
Rhiana heard one of her soldiers go down and zeroed in on the Gunnery Saregent and fired a short burst toward him. The Disruptor beam sang out into the night like a terriable Banshee calling it's prey to it's demise. The Experienced Marine felt the sharp burning in his back for a breif few seconds as he painfully disintgrated under the type seven disruptor's power. With their leader gone the three remaining Marines raised their hands standing up slowly surrendering.
Rhiana called for a cease fire and stepped out with her squad bringing the ring of Romulans around the Federation soldiers. Two of her own people had been killed by the skilled warriors and she appraised them carefully. "You've fought well Humans..Better then I expected." she said to them coldly then turned and nodded to her second in command."Now youcan die well." she said over her shoulder and moved off to make sure the children and wife were secure.
The three surviveing Marine's eyes went wide, they had surrendered weren't they supposed to be unharmed?! The Tal'Shair agents raised their rifles and fired into the surrendering Marines, Each shot carefully aimed to kill instantly; They deserved that much respect.
[A Short time later]
Rhiana moved with her squad carriing the two young children over her shoulders as her second in command drug the female human along. The Marines had scored a harsh blow to Squad C destroying all but three of them, and Squad A came away with four men remaining out of twelve but with the Federation scienctist in tow.
The commander of the Unit looked over at his troopers and nodded. "Well done men but we are not out of this yet. Squad C's remaining people are about to destroy the Enviroment contorls and life support. They wont be comming back with us. As soon as the planetary shields are down the weather effects of this harsh not quite terriformed world will blast over this area. If we are not out of here and in our ship this mission will fail and we will be dead." he said in a stoic voice.
"EnArrian t'Khellian and squad B will get to the shuttle with the prisioners while the reminaits of Squad A will hold off the marines who are barking at our heels. For the Glory of the Empire!" he shouted and turned with the rest of Squad A to set up a fireing line.Rhiana nodded and ran as quickly as her burden would allow toward the shuttlecraft.
As they ran they could hear the tell tell sounds of Phaser fire erupting from behind them, and the return fire of the heavy disruptors. A Stray shot slammed into her second in command and green blood splattered over his left side as his head exploded in a ball of gory remains. The young human female screamed as she was covered in what remained of the Arrian and fell to the ground.
Rhiana growled and looked over at her, "Get up now and follow without trouble or your daughter dies before your eyes." she said as she reached her hand over to the little girl's throat and begain to squeeze. The little girl squrimed and gagged as the airflow was cut off from her lungs. The Mother screamed again and dragged herself to her feet. "Don't hurt my baby you evil bitch!" she called out.
Rhiana smirked and released her grip on the girl's neck and ran foward once more. The human woman followed closely tears cleaning away the globs of Romulan blood that had begun to congeal on her face. Finally after what seemed to be a eternity the Squad arrived at the shuttle and pounded up the ramp.
"Get us out of here now, The Riov and Squad A will need to be transported into the ship immidately."she said quickly as she threw the children into their mothers lap and moved up to the pilot. The man nodded and closed up the ramp as the rest of Squad B secured the prisoners behind two seperate forcefields.
The shuttle rose up into the air and blasted foward toward the battlefield were Squad A and the Marines were pounding each other. Rhiana locked the ship's disruptor banks at the center of the fighting and nodded to the Pilot. As soon as the pilot pressed the transporter button Rhiana fired the two powerful disruptor banks at maximum power at the Marine squad. The ground errupted from the powerful blast and the Federation marines went flying in multiable directions as the shuttle launched back into space.
The sound of the cloaking device activating filled the Agents with releif as Rhiana and the Riov moved up to the scientist." Well now..What shall we talk about hmm?" The Riov said as Rhiana moved moved toward the cell with the children pulling her Kalen.
The man's face went pale and his eyes wide. Everyone in the ship knew he would tell them anything to protect his family. The Tal'Shair agents couldn't help but smile. It's always wonderful when things work out.
