[USS Charon] SD240911.06 || Joint Duty Backlog || "Cyclicar Physics" Ens Doyle Cdt Clipper Spc Shenn

[USS Charon, sensor pod]

The hum of the pod increased, he could feel his nose hairs begin to vibrate enough to make him sneeze. He looked at the readings, the tachyon levels just weren't enough from the dorsal array to match the levels that were fired to create the first temporal rift.
"Doyle to Shenn, we need more power"

"You got it, sir. Just do me a favor and steer clear of any EPS conduits in the vicinity, some of those babies are close to blowing as it is."
Not if he could help it though.
Only one way to ride a Blue Bear - hold on for dear life. And reroute power through backup conduits.

Galen noticed the Tachyon readings increase, they were beginning to get above safe levels, he attempted to compensate but was met with resistance, the environmentals just weren't cut out to handle this much Tachyon Radiation. It was then it struck him, he could increase the tachyon counter radiation with one of the Class 8 probes. Of course the Class 8 probes were on Deck A...

Nathanial watched as the Tachyon readings increased, they were getting ever so much closer to the level required to nullify the 'bubble'. He hoped that the dorsal array could keep up to the task.

Thomas was passing his tricorder over the array, the data was piling-in. the revised power being delivered to the array was over what he had anticipated and the radiation was overpowering the environmentals capacity. He glanced to the side of his vision where he could see the readings from the panel, they were so close from achieving the required radiation density, the warnings beginning to show on the array were being confirmed from his Tricorder, the situation had him subconsciously holding his breath in anticipation.

Nathanial watched the meter get ever so closer, point 3 of a micron to go, point 2 to go. It was then that the temperature shifted, all of a sudden Nathanial felt like he was in a sauna, and not a comfortable one either! "Nathanial to Galen, report." No reply. Nathanial tried again "Nathanial to Galen, report!"

"Galen here, all under ....Cshhhhhhhhhhhh" The comm signal was replaced by static. Point 1 micron to go, like a wave, the temperature flicked back to acceptable levels, Galen must have rectified the situation, Nathanial thought to himself, and then it happened. 0.0 microns to go. Then it happened.

Everything seemed to slow down for Nathanial, he felt a drop of sweat that had begun to trickle down his face come to a near stop and the pod began to take on a slight green hue. He was unsure what to do, the meter flashed 0.0, he was unable to look away, time seeming to stand still, and yet the meter still flashing 0.0.

The Sudden wave of heat was all but debilitating for Thomas, he dropped to one knee as he was left light headed. Stabilizing himself against the wall he looked up the display on the array as it ticked to 100% for the tachyon Density, he felt a smile form across his face. They had done it.
The heat was taking over, he couldn't bring himself to move as the colour of the pod took on a green tinge, regardless the Cadet was fixated on the result displayed on the monitor.

Way too warm to be comfortable. WAY too warm.
Shenn almost laughed out loud when another coupling went haywire in slow motion and then simply stopped, but the thickness of the air around him was like syrup and made his head ache.
Well, this was it. It was either going to work now or they'd be blown to high heavens.

Galen stood a few steps from the probe, he had managed to boost the environmentals using the environmental's on the probe. Then it happened, Everything turned a bright white, so bright that he felt as if he would go blind, he closed his eyes and covered them with his hands, hoping that this bright intensity would stop soon.

The Pod pulsated, if anyone was able to watch it from outer space it would have looked like a green strobe light, with a small circle of white light where the 'bubble' was. The pod pulsated one more time and then like a rush of water the green hue shot throughout the entire ship, and surrounding the 'bubble' of white. It pulsated one more time and then engulfed the 'bubble'.

Time returned to normal, Nathanial looked around him, he was slightly disorientated "I must be working too hard" he said to himself. He looked down at the control station he was standing above, it showed a diagnostic of the sensor pod, there had been a small calibration error that was causing incorrect scans, he inputted the recalibration settings, they would only take a minute to come online, but yet they had caused so many issues over the past few days scans.
He tapped on his comm badge "Cadet Thomas, Specialist Shenn, report on the conditions of the Dorsal Array and the Generator."

Thomas felt flustered, the hot flush had made him knell to his side, he checked the tricorder he had been doing the sweep with, everything was normal, which was when he noticed the EV suit he was wearing. More than a little perturbed that he couldn't recall why or when he put it on in the first place.
Happy that there was no one to query his attire he took the opportunity to remove and discreetly relocate it into one of the storage panels.
Everything as far as the tricorder was concerned showed everything in the pod as ship shape, however he was of the opinion that was only because the tricorder was scanning the condition of the pod rather than checking his brain activity, the Cadets concentration was broken by the communication over the commbadge, he replied. "Cadet Thomas here. The Tricorder scan is clear, no problems with the Dorsal Array, I'll run a level 4 diagnostic to check"

"All good here, sir." Shenn grumbled, unsure why he was feeling so weird. His antennae felt as if they'd been through a wringer of some sort but he'd be damned if her knew why.

"Roger that, if that's the case and everything checks out, meet me at the turbolift on Deck A".

Nathanial headed towards deck A, he still had to do his final sweep of Deck A. He pulled out his tricorder and walked through the deck, everything was normal, everything working smoothly, he approached one of the pod storage bays and stopped. There standing in the middle of the corridor was a Class 8 probe, it was active and emitting some kind of environmental shield. He ran his tricorder over it, and the tricorder came back with no potential risks, so he reached over and switched it off. "Nathanial to Thomas, Shenn, did either one of you activate a Class 8 Probe on Deck A?"

Pausing due to the strange query "I don't recall doing so Sir." Was about the most honest reply he could muster, maybe there was more to his amnesia regarding the EV suit than he had dared imagine. No it was just a coincidence, if he really had too he could brood about it later, second guessing himself was so unproductive, for now everything was fine the pod was functional and his job for the day was done.

Class eight probe? For what reason? "No sir, wasn't me." The Andorian answered.

Nathanial was intrigued by the situation, he yawned, his body reminding him of the requirement for sleep, he shrugged and made a note on the PADD, he would make mention of it in his log. Placing the probe away in his rightful place he headed to the turbolift.

Nathanial turned the last corner and was greeted with his team, his first 'mission" of such, though a routine check of the Pod, with no major issues was hardly what you could call a 'mission', but at least he could say that he had no casualties.

They entered the Turbolift, "Deck 8". They watched as the doors closed to Deck A, and each could have sworn that just as the doors closed, Deck A seemed to take on a slight green hue.

The doors opened in the turbolift, Nathanial, Thomas and Shenn exited the Turbolift, Deck 8 seemed to be busy, as everyone was preparing for the upcoming Nebula. Nathanial looked at Thomas and Shenn. he noticed both showing slight signs of tiredness, he turned to both. "Cadet, Specialist, great work today, please have your reports finished and on my desk in the morning. Dismissed!"

The Academy was still way to fresh in his mind Subconsciously stood him to attention at the dismissal "Consider it done Sir, goodnight." Once Nathaniel took his leave he spoke again, "Computer Deck 10." He was happy to retire to his quarters; however it seemed sleep would have to wait as he had a report to write.

"Sure enough, Ensign." Shenn shrugged with antennae turning inwards. He hadn't felt this groggy since his brief stint to the sauna that Nils had dragged him and Ria to, but he wasn't in the mood to ponder why.
The pod had been interesting to tinker with but right now what he really wanted was a sonic shower and a nice, fluffy bed.

Galen finished his sweep of the pod, even though he prefered to be alone, he thought to himself that maybe next time he would have someone else come with him as well, for it seemed like it had taken him over a day to check the whole pod. And after all he was the Chief of Science...
