[Shuttle Bellatora Fortis, Yy`a nebula]
"Yes ma'am," Cyrin responded as he accessed the maintenance control menu and ran the diagnostics, right after they were complete he noticed an issue with the temperature of the shuttle, "Cabin temperature is elevating Lieutenant. I will try to compensate, but I am not sure there is anything I can do. I am sorry." He apologized sending the report to the Lieutenant.
It was actually quite comfortable, but the young half-Vulcan doubted anyone on board but her would appreciate temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
Still, there had to be a cause for this unusual occurrence. Logic dictated, that since the shuttle was operating not only within, but above parameters, it had to be
"This is SO cool!"
"Hot, you mean."
"Whatever."
"Mr Olafsson, would you care to clarify?"
"Sorry Lieutenant. We seem to have some thermobaric effects here. The only other ship that's ever come across something like that was Voyager and THAT was, like, I don't know, quite a-ways out in the Delta quadrant."

The human's excitement was quite understandable, however heat and pressure was not a combination which a pilot found pleasant to ponder.
And that was when she saw it.
"I believe the correct phrase is 'hold on'."
In a swift movement that briefly upset the inertia dampeners, Sakarra banked the shuttle to port and rotated it along the z-axis. Barely avoiding a plasma eddy which had hidden itself behind one of the dark green strings of dust, she ducked their nimble craft under another cloud of gold.
Behind her, there was a clattering of small items and a thud, followed by a hearty "Himmel Arsch und Zwirn!"

"You okay Stefan?"
"Only my pride that's hurt."
"Knocked you on your butt, didn't she?'
"Literally, too."

"Is everyone unharmed?" Sakarra asked calmly, keeping her eyes on the sensor readings "I apologize for the disruption, however it will become necessary to clear this field before hull pressure approaches safety limits."
Cyrin was glad he was in a seat as Sakarra piloted the shuttle, he noticed that she had increased the power input and compensated as they moved over. "I am fine ma'am. That was unexpected. However, with that slight maneuver you increased power input by five percent. Any higher and this entire craft will implode in on itself. Especially with the thermobaric effects on the exterior." He added.
For precisely 1.2 seconds, Sakarra gave the young male next to her what could only be described as a 'Look'. One of the sort that had been known to cause people to murmur incomprehensible things before making a hasty departure.
But just as fast as the strange light had appeared in her eyes it dissipated, leaving only serene features accompanied by an elegantly raised brow.
"Indeed?"
Over some mild but good-natured grumbling from the hold, the young Vulcan performed another sharp turn and listened intently for the sound of the engines.
"Mr Olafsson, would you care to explain the citrus fruit metaphor again?"
"Huh? Oh, you mean the thing about when life hands you lemons and stuff?"
"Precisely. Ensign Dicari, if you would kindly reroute the power spike which will occur in 3.4 seconds through the starboard EPS grid and channel it towards structural integrity."

With a touch that could almost be called affectionate were the pilot not of the Vulcan variety, the young woman's fingers danced over the console. A tiny shudder went through the Fortis as it broke clear of the dense field, trailing swirls of dust. For a brief moment, golden sparks flickered across the windows and then they were gliding swiftly through a luminous layer of amber clouds.
"With your permission, Captain, it might be advisable to bring the communications array online now. The other shuttles should be warned to avoid this area if possible."
Shiarrael was clinging to the backs of the pilot chairs trying her best not to be bustled about like one of the scientist's equipment- so far she had managed to remain steady but her hair was another matter entirely. Carefully brushing the jostled strands away from her face Shiarrael grimaced "do what you must."
Cyrin pulled up the menu for the communications array and began bringing everything online. It took him around three minutes to establish the link with the Charon. "Captain, Lieutenant
the communications array is online and we are connected to the Charon. They are receiving everything we transmit to them." He was just slightly apprehensive with the power intake that it was causing. "Lieutenant this increased power intake by zero point three percent," He warned the Vulcan. He really hated not having more systems to reroute power from especially with the scientist tinkering on their consoles which had to be feed a constant stream of power, "I wish I had more systems to reroute power from," he muttered to himself.
Sakarra nodded and started transmitting the navigational data to the other shuttles. Although the young ops officer was not looking all too happy right now, he would very likely be even more upset if the other craft would require extensive repairs.
"Hm."
This was either random subspace noise or something else entirely
"Fascinating."
The signature was decidedly Rihannsu although the origin was far from clear. Throwing an inquisitive glance over her shoulder, Sakarra noticed that the CO was still in one of her acerbic moods, but was looking at the comm console with an almost thoughtful expression.

Her attention was immediately caught by the signal. Shiarrael had been given substantial information about Romulan fleet presence in the area- at least substantial enough to know where NOT to go. However, the area of the signal's origin was well out of the way of anything she remembered seeing "set a course and inform the Charon to follow."
Sakarra acknowledged with a brief nod and then sent the shuttle barreling after the signal's source, eliciting a brief flinch from Cyrin.
After only 7.3 minutes it became quite clear that they had in fact picked up a distress call. A quick glance at the readouts confirmed that Charon was already underway and Ensign M'Riarr's unusually brief message stated that the shuttle's data was sufficient for her to plot a safe course. Well, mostly safe. Knowing the Caitian, Sakarra suspected the pilot would not bother to avoid the smaller disturbances if one could punch through them, very likely to the annoyance of engineers and later, young Mr Dicari as well.

Like a Nightwind emerging from a storm cloud, the Bellatora Fortis shot out of the nebula. Immediately the sensors confirmed what the front window already showed - a Minshara-class planet, bathed in Yy`a's luminous glow.
"It would seem we have found the source of the distress signal."
