[USS Charon] SD240911.17 - Away Team Two Joint Log Pt. 1

-------SD240911.17 - USS Charon - Away Team Two Joint Log -------

With the order from the Captain, Eithne immediately started towards
the turbo lift to head towards the Armory to prepare for the mission.
Though she was sure there was not going to be much need for it, she
wanted her team prepared should anything come their way. She hit the
badge on her chest and called the rest of her team. " Commander Katris
to Lieutenant Dlya, Lieutenant Bai, Ensign Doyle, and Corporal Warren.
Meet me in transporter room two in your hazmat suits prepared for an
away mission to the planet." She hit the badge again to close the
channel and continued down to the armory.

From his position on the holodeck, running the program still after everyone
else had been called away to their respective tasks, Runo watched as suddenly
a phaser bolt flew out and slammed its way home into the captain's chest from
an unseen attacker. t'Rehu went to cry out but her voice was silenced as she
fell to the ground, a hole burnt into her torso. There had been three assassins
hidden in the crowd but the lieutenant was never able to find the third killer
in any scenario he played. Eris deck faded to white as a pleasant female voice
called out over the light. "Scenario failed, target has been
eliminated. Restart?"

Runo slammed his fist against the wall, creating a small dent due to his rapidly
fading Izmean bio-augments. Pulling his hand away from the wall, he was
shocked to find it bruise and screaming with pain. His frustration and anger
over failing yet again overrode his sense of well being. The hand would be fine
but he had somewhere to be. Besides, he hadn't been able to see Indira in a
while and going on an away team together would have to suffice. He tapped
his combadge while heading out of the holodeck. "Lieutenant Dlya to Commander
Katris, acknowledged."

As he closed that channel he quickly opened up another channel.
"Lieutenant Dlya to Engineering, please send a damage control team to
holodeck 1."

Indira tapped her comm badge.  "Aye Commander."  She had taken over a
couple of beta shifts since they had left Lyrillia, and the quiet had
grated on her patience. At least now she could start moving back into
her regular shift schedule and get in on the "action".  Indi grabbed
her usual medical kits in addition to the hazmat suit before heading
out to the Transporter room.

Nathanial heard the Commander and quickly responded "Roger that sir,
I'll be there in five minutes". He headed to the science store locker
and picked up all the normal tools for an away mission, his tricroder,
standard phaser, multiphasic adapter and mini-portable emitter. He
also grabbed his Hasmat suit and and his experimental portable probe
setup, he figured it was time to put it to the test in the field. He
placed everything other than the suit in a large Starfleet issue
duffle bag and headed to Transporter Room Two.

Brent and his Marines arrived soon after the order to report was
given.  The full combat suit that the SFMC provided was well equipped
to deal with hazardous environments, including the latest bio filters
and a set of air reserve to keep them isolated from the outside air
for several hours.  He looked around at the others as the filled in,
keeping silent as he was still used to being a enlisted man around
Fleet officers.

Stepping to the transporter room, carrying a phaser rifle resting against
his shoulder and dressed in his hazmat suit save for a glove due to the
injury on his hand, Runo immediately noticed the girl with the dark hair and
beautiful skin. His lips gently curved into a smile but he continued
with setting up and checking his equipment, keeping to himself for the most
part but making sure the commander was aware he was present and accounted for.

Eithne looked over to the entrance of the transporter room as everyone started
to arrive in their suits and armed with their weapons. She took a moment to
look over each of them to make sure they were properly armed and dressed for the
mission at hand and took note of one member missing a glove.

"Lieutenant Dlya... The suit is not going to help you much without that glove..
I understand you are injured, but perhaps the good Doctor could bandage your
hand for you so you may wear that suit properly...If this plague is porous then
you might as well beam down in the buff..." A metaphor, she would not allow him
to join them if he disagreed with her.

"I understand commander but that will not be necessary." Runo fit the
glove around his hand and soon, his enviromental seals were intact and ready.
Double checking his suit and the rifle he carried, he paused at the weapon.
True it might come in handy but did he really need a rifle when a simple hand
phaser would suffice? Eventually, he reached a decision in his mind and gave
a small sigh, ensuring the rifle was powered down and the safety engaged
before placing it in an emergency weapons locker located within the
transporter room. His hand wouldn't bother him but if it started to hinder
him in any way, shape or fashion, he would make sure to turn to Indi.

Indi opened her mouth to argue the fact that examining and probably
healing his hand would only take a moment, but closed it again as she
thought better of it.  He might be upset with her since they hadn't
spent any time together in recent weeks, but she also knew he was
smart enough to ask for treatment if it was bothering him badly
enough.

Brent spotted the Commander and nodded at her as he overheard the not
so witty banter going back and forth between everyone awaiting the
order to beam down.  "Ma'am.  I would recommend that myself and my
fire team beam down first.  We will secure the area and tell you when
it is safe for you to come down.

Eithne raised a brow at the response she got from Dlya about his hand and
waved it off, if he wanted to head into a mission already injured that was
his choice. Her gaze then went to the Marine who was speaking with her,
she had put her spite for them behind her when she met Jade's sister
Aria, but still there was a small amount there. Of course she would never let
anyone see that in her, or even read it from her.

"That is a good idea Corporal. I don't see why that cannot be arranged. " She
just finished speaking with him when she got the order that they were clear
to head down to the planet. Nodding to him she waved them towards the
transporter PADD. "Ok Corporal, take your men down and contact me when
it is clear..."

Runo sat in the background, recognizing the validity of the marine's
statement. The captain and executive officers were rather valuable
parts of the crew and the way things were going recently, he would
not be surprised if they ran into something wanting to relieve the
Federation crew of their leaders, down on the planet. As the marine
group headed for the transporter pad, Runo spoke up. "Good luck...
you might need it." Realizing they had another minute or two before
they would be stepping onto the pad themselves, Runo slowly made
his way over to stand near Indi but not close enough that it would make
either feel uncomfortable. His movements and actions were set up to
make it appear that he was simply checking over people's gear and
ensuring their suits containment was solid. "I'm sorry for the last few
weeks. I haven't been meaning to avoid you, its just gotten really busy.
Especially with those new Romulan guards... but that's no excuse for me

not dropping by and paying a visit or at least sending a message."

Indira glanced at him over her shoulder.  "Shh," she whispered under
her breath, "It's okay, we can talk later, but lets focus on the
mission right now, Lieutenant."  She grinned at her use of his rank,
knowing he'd understand that business came first.  Readjusting the
medical kit over her shoulder, she was glad to note that no one else
had appeared to hear the private exchange.

Eithne watched as the Corporal and his men were beamed down to
the planets surface. She figured she would let them secure the area
before they were beamed down. No use risking more people then she
had to. Now, they waited for the word for them to beam down, once they
received it they would be sure to be waiting on the PADD and ready to go.

Though it was not long before they would get the clear to head down to the
planet they all stepped onto the PADD and were soon disappearing in the
shimmer of blue light.
