"It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle." – Sun Tzu, the Art of War
[USS Charon]
The Charon slipped and dodged as the warbirds swooped after her. Phaser streaks lanced out at the D'Jhimn which was having a difficult time dodging the phaser fire with her outdated engines. However, the three other warbirds were making it difficult for Charon to keep a lock on the target of choice in-between evasive shifting. Shiarrael remained a step behind Ch'Tan as he practically banged on his console. "Find a way to contact the away team- tell them we are under attack and that they must find a way to get off the planet."
Rhianna grabbed the side of her control pannel as the Charon rocked under the barrage of her country men's vessels. She worked carefully on attempting to increase the power to the communication systems to try to cut through the jamming. The lights flickered slightly under the barrage of the weapons fire and Rhiana tapped her coms down to engineering. "Commander Calhoun try diverting power to the main sensor palette. If I can bounce the singal off the main deflector we should be able to cut through to the away team, though we may overload a few EPS relays in the process." said the Rhinnsu officer in a clam voice.
Quentin was doing his best to keep the ship intact as the fancy flying from above weaved it between the various shots being fired. Within a moment the request to find a way to contact the away team had been punched through to his terminal in main engineering. Quentin thought as he tapped the table thinking for a moment. "We need to route the communications array through the deflector and set it on a high rotational frequency until one of them punches through the communications jamming!" he exclaimed to himself as he thought for a moment again. "Of course that will take power away from the shields…" he continued having a rhetorical conversation with himself. "But!" he continued as his colleagues could only grin as they watched Quentin's mind in action. "We can divert energy from all non-populated areas of the ship!" he added chuckling as he tapped away at the console before opening a communications link to the bridge. "I will start pulsing out the deflector array enhanced message to the planet; I've remodulated the deflector on a rotational basis to send it which will hopefully reach them. Problem is this; we have a finite amount of reserve power that isn't currently being ploughed into the shields and weapons!" he called out over the comm. through the din of Engineering."
Ch'tan fired off another volley of phaser fire that struck the D'Jhimn and caused a bit of damage, causing the ship to slow in its reactions a bit more.
M'Riarr's big paws flew over the helm console in a flurry of speed. Dodging and weaving, she felt like she was doing some odd dance of the dead. Not that any self-respecting Caitian would ever shun a good fight but come ON. Four warbirds against a science ship? Snarling in disgust, the tan-furred lioness entertained the thought of ripping out the throat of whoever commanded those things before yet another barrage impacted their shields. This was so NOT going to end well.
Debris and sparks began to shower the bridge as consoles and relays overloaded. A few loose pieces of wiring fell from the ceiling and dangled precariously above the bridge while sparking. 'We can't last much longer' Shiarrael made her way back to the command chair, her expression on the bad side of pissed. Had she a combat vessel with teeth she would have certainly preferred to return the bite, but Charon was not a combat vessel and had very little in the way of bite. However, there was one thing that stood in Charon's favor and Shiarrael planned on utilizing it.
Engineering was full of smoke as plasma relays blew out all around him. This ship wasn't built for extended combat and no amount of patching it up and holding it together would result in a victory if the attacks carried on to this extent. Quentin leapt off the platform and ran over to the warp core as a new series of alarms started to blare. "Warp field stability is down to 60%!" he called out to D'vana "Bring the containment fields online and monitor them – if that stability field goes down below 30% we have a serious problem on our hands!" he called out.
D'Vana moved to another console nearly getting knocked to the ground as she did so. She really did not like battle situations sometimes. Especially when she was on the engineering end, "Bringing the containment fields online now." D'Vana called out keeping an eye on the monitor as well as trying to keep her feet. She coughed at the plasma smoke that filled the room. The engineers were definitely more active in a real live battle then in a simulated one.
As a massive explosion ripped a hole in the side of engineering several engineers and consoles were lost to the vacuum of space. "Get the containment online NOW!" he shouted out as he fought hard to hold onto the console before crashing to the floor when the force field came online. Reaching to his pocket he downed more than the recommended dose of pills to keep himself from feeling pain during this combat situation. "Any more hits like that; we won't have a ship to repair" he muttered as he jumped back up to the pool table in a mostly-destroyed engineering to provide as much power as possible to the shields.
[IRW Knvuk]
Terrh grinned maliciously and licked his lips. "Refusing to strand your people on the planet? How noble Rehu." He laughed "prepare for planetary dispersion of Memento Mori." His eyes reflected the bright blues and greens creasing across the view screen as the Charon battled the four other warbirds. It was a futile effort "remind those Leih-a that they are not to destroy the Charon" like a wicked thrai Terrh enjoyed playing with his prey before he snapped their necks.
"It is ready."
"Fire." Terrh shivered with anticipation. A turquoise light escaped from the Knvuk's torpedo bay. It shimmered like a throbbing sun before exploding in the atmosphere of the planet. A sparkle of silver seemed to extend slowly and then dissipate. For a moment Terrh was mesmerized and then he looked towards the Charon "I will truly enjoy this day."
