[USS Charon] SD241001.23 || Back Log || "Darkness" Part VI - Lieutenant Nathanial Doyle

They had conversed for a while now, of course Nathanial had no real way of telling how long it had been, but he was comfortable that with the amount of topics covered that it was a while. Nathanial had noticed a few intriguing reactions and changes while talking to the figure, he noticed that when the figure became more intense in his subject matter, that the world around them would seem to fade a little, as if he was concentrating more on the discussion and less on the world around them. Nathanial had snuck in a few thoughts in the times that the world was the dimmest, he felt that everything here seemed to be controlled by the figure.
Then it struck him, attempting to keep his thoughts in check, during a discussion about an event that they supposedly had both shared back in Nathanial's Academy days, Nathanial looked off in the distance at the light, no matter what had transpired so far in this world, the light was always there, just close enough to spot. It had been there when he arrived, it had been there when he was thrown down the never ending pit, it had been there during the construction of the current world, and it was there now.

The figure heard Nathanial's thoughts about the light, he was having a good time conversing with Nate , he was not happy that Nate had, during their current coversation, attempted to rationalize his world.

The figure stood up, halting the conversation, and swung his arm in a bravado like motion.

Be gone light!

Nathanial looked up at the figure, and then quickly shifted his attention to the light in the distance, he watched as nothing happened...

Nathanial was about to comment when everything went black. At first he figured that the light had answered the figures call, but it didn't feel right. It felt more like the figure had placed a wall surrounding Nathanial, thus blocking the light from view, he wasn't sure how he knew, but he just knew that the light was still out there. He wanted to think and analyse this more, but knew that the figure was currently listening to his thoughts.
But he had come across something big, this was the first bit of the world he currently inhabited that the figure seemed to have no control over.

"You and I most definitely have alot in common don't we?" Nathanial asked addressing the figure. "I know that you didn't dismiss the light on purpose, you made it look like you could not to give me hope, isn't that right?" Nathanial said out loud.

The figure smiled, he felt that Nathanial was finally breaking and realizing that he was in the presence of a god, and there was nothing Nathanial could do!

Nate, you surprise me at your ingenuity, a lesser being would have fallen for my ploy. But it is the reason why I chose you all those years ago after all.

"Yes, why did you choose me?"

You still haven't figured that out yet have you?

"Do you need to ask?" Nathanial replied with the insinuation that the figure could read his thoughts.

Of course I don't, but it does sound so much better coming from you. The figure paused for a second, waiting for Nathanial to reply, when he didn't the figure continued.

You see it all started...
