[USS Charon] SD241001.14 - Back Log "Good bye Fury" - Captain Rehu & (A)Cmdr Kanryth

<<OOC: when Guardian arrives, the QF will have been at least 2 weeks gone.  So this takes place 2 weeks prior to the arrival of the Guardian>>

[USS Charon, Ready Room]

It was not hard to see that Khiy Kanryth did not like her.  There was always the hint of vile disgust in his voice- does he resent me?  Jealousy perhaps?  Those were her first guesses.  But then she delved into his written history.  It was brief, his origins shrouded by layers of classified information.   It was annoying and resembled trying to find a grain of fact in a Tal'Shiar field full of deceptions.  It was not until she finally found a bit of history that she understood where his resentment stemmed from.  The young commander was a former slave- it was now no surprise to her that he detested Romulan aristocracy.

"We have completed interrogations of the NeoDyne personnel."  Khiy's eyes focused on the desk instead of Rehu and dropped the PADD in his hands onto the polished surface "they admit they were conducting experiments on the local population.  Their testimony has been recorded and we will deliver them along with the other evidence to Starfleet."

"Good."  Shiarrael felt some anger at the mention of the scientists.  What they did was beyond outrageous and she had been wise enough not to interact with them.  The elements did not have enough strength in the universe to restrain her from strangling those mad men.  "I have yet to thank you for your aid.  It has proven invaluable."

"I did not come here to aid you."  Khiy was blunt and terse "my duty is to your Starfleet crew, not to you, a thrai in a fvai's skin."

Shiarrael was silent.  Replying to that wasn't worth it.  Keeping her tongue in check would hasten his departure.  She could sympathize with his history but tolerating his antics- his open lack of respect was becoming more and more difficult.  She had little doubt that the Commander was sent to evaluate her.  "If that is what you believe."  She finally spoke, her tone even but a little edgy "it seems you are done here."

Khiy nodded and turned around walking out.  Once alone in her ready room Shiarrael picked up the PADD he had dropped on her desk, perused it, sighed, and then chucked the damn thing into her desk.  Leaning back in her chair she studied the neat office.  It was a far-cry from the debris strewn room of earlier.  The engineers had certainly done a good job.   Standing up she stretched, studied the view- a feeling of nostalgia coming over her for a short moment.  With another short sigh she twisted her heels and made her way onto the bridge.

She stopped at the doorway and glance at the view screen.  The Quantum Fury twisted and dived past a large warbird before cloaking and disappearing into the ether.  Beyond it were dozens of warbirds.  Normally she would have felt at home but this oddly foreign to her how.  Hostile.  The sooner they finished repairs the better.  Turning around she walked back into her ready room.
