[USS Charon] SD 241001.16 || JL || Cmdr. Marcus (CSec), Lt. Dlya (ASec) || "Duty called back. It was for you."

[Deck 9, Security offices]

With a quick glance at his chrono, Runo winced as he stepped through the doors that led into the Security offices that called deck nine home. What he didn't expect is what he heard when he walked in. "-nd that is why Ensign Keiser's undergarments were found in the Mess Hall. As I explained earlier, I am innocent in this matter." Runo raised an eyebrow as he walked past Dylan's office. The sight of a flustered human female in science blue, Marcus and another male human all seated about the chief of security's desk brought only confusion to the lieutenant. It was the end of a conversation that Dlya wasn't sure he wanted to hear the rest of. He shrugged, only Marcus seeing him walk past, and walked to his alcove where he entered his authorization codes before the Charon's computer allowed him access to his files. He looked at the time and sighed quietly.. Never once since he had been transferred to the USS Charon from YaDalla Colony had Runo Dlya been late to his duty shift. Well... I guess there is a first time for everything. The reason why though brought a smile to the young man's face as he began to get to work. He intended to take up Indi's offer as he quickly checked over what time she was supposed to get off duty. Glancing back at his shift schedule, having them both open at the same time side by side, he winced but nodded to himself. His thoughts turned towards the woman but they were interrupted by a familiar voice, his hand reaching out and canceling out the schedules in a reflex action when he chided himself mentally. He had nothing to hide...

"Lieutenant... the entire time that you have been part of my department, no situation prevented you from being late. Romulan attacks, a broken arm, turbolifts being offline and I knew that I could count on you being there at 0700. Yet today, I find you walking in at 0723 minutes. Can you offer an explanation?" Dylan was not accustomed to waiting, especially when it came to Runo, who was never late. He had enough to do keeping an eye on the Romulan engineers, he didn't like not knowing where his own people were.

"Sorry sir... I cannot." The lieutenant wasn't sure if he should mention the true reason why he was late. Indi might be a little embarrassed. Then again, she hadn't been on the other end. His mind wandered back to the night before and his face broke into a small grin before the younger man realized that his superior officer was giving him an odd look. Runo quickly apologized again before raising a question...... "What was the questioning about? Earlier in your office, I heard the tail end of a... unique conversation. Is that the officer that had her more private clothing flaunted on a few decks while she was locked outside of her quarters wearing a towel? Wow... I wonder what she did to annoy someone that much." Runo realized that he had shifted the original conversation's focus from him to another subject but even as he was speaking about it, he faintly remembered reading over a few reports on that.

Dylan smiled. "The Same old things that normally cause those sort of things." He said still looking at Runo with an odd look. Dylan had glanced at the report, but had not had time to read it fully. "The main thing is that you are here now. " Marcus continued. "I need you to organize security around the main computer and engineering. I had the pleasure of having a conversation with a Romulan engineer that was attempting to access restricted information on the engines. I would not want a repeat of that."

The right eyebrow on the lieutenant's face raised just a fraction of an inch in interest and confusion at the same time. He had not realized that Captain t'Rehu had allowed the friendly Romulans access to main Engineering or the computer core. "Aye sir. I'll assign Davis and Sheffield to the computer core and post V'nen, Ba'tan, Henderson and Rameris to Engineering." Looking to his left, back at his console, Runo typed in a few commands and waited for the computer to confirm the actions he had submitted before turning back to the commander. "I can authorize the computer core's electronic security improved upon but only to a certain degree and I'll need an engineer with knowledge about ALICE's subsystems just to get close enough to implicate the modifications. Any recommendations?" According to scuttlebutt reports, and it was from very few sources so Runo couldn't confirm anything, Dylan had been seeing a female engineer and according to access reports along with a certain eyewitness, a female engineer had been present when ALICE's systems had been upgraded and maintained. Not that ALICE would admit she was gossiping. Besides it wasn't in her programming to 'participate in the articulation of untrue and exaggerated claims about the relationship status of crew members." Catch her in a good mood and she'll talk your ears off.

Dylan smiled. "That obvious huh?" he said. "Your talking about Elizabeth Johnson, Lizzy for short." he grinned. "I'm surprised Alice has not told you the news yet." He said. It was understandable since Alice's core program was currently buffered in the holodeck 1 database while her systems were repaired. "She has been telling anyone who asks lately. Lizzy and I are getting married."

Dlya hadn't been expecting him to say that Dylan and Elizabeth were getting married. After all, the younger man was under the impression that they hadn't been seeing each other for that long but evidently he was mistaken. Now I owe Ba'tan 35 credits... "Congratulations sir but no, she hadn't told me. I tend to avoid Alice. For a hologram, she doesn't me and I haven't been able to figure out why." A tiny shrug set his shoulders in motion and he completed the movement by looking back at his console and noticing an small screen flashing in the corner, the frame around it a pulsating red. He moved in for a closer look before frowning. "We have someone trying to access stellar cartography or astrometrics, Alice isn't sure and she's investigating now. It looks like someone is going after some star charts, communication logs, spatial scans. Its not restricted material so I don't see why it would... what the hell?" His voice was somewhat quiet as he tried to start an access trace but the tracer was blocked. Even though that had failed, suddenly the box's frame turned blue and Alice appeared on the screen. "Access to memory logs has been canceled. Internal scans register no life signs in the vicinity. I will continue to investigate but I would file this under 'false alarms' commander Marcus. Oh... hello lieutenant. It is not as agreeable to see you as the saying goes."

Runo sighed. "Its nice to see you too Alice. I'll make sure the commander is notified. Dlya out." Closing the communications link, he turned to Dylan. "When is the big day or is it still up in the air?" He made sure to alert two assistant security officers to the incident and they were sent to help Alice.

"I would still like to check out the stellar cartography bay." Dylan said. "With some of Alice's systems still under repair, I would prefer to rely on old fashioned security work to be sure as well." He looked down for a moment trying to think about the wedding plans. "We are shooting for about two weeks from now, when the repairs are complete and we are out of this area. Speaking of which, I was hoping you would help out. I need a captain of the honor guard; know anyone I can ask?" he asked with a grin.

Runo furrowed his brow as he thought of people the chief might know. Crossing his arms over his chest as he thought, the first person to pop into his head was commander Ch'Tan although as the time wore on, Dylan's words along with the meaning behind them finally clicked. "If that is the invitation... then I gladly accept." A smile crossed the lieutenant's face as he shook Dylan's hand that moved out towards Runo. He didn't know much about weddings and with the way things were happening with the Charon lately, the honor guard may not be simply for show. "I'll have to brush up on a few things but I guess that two weeks should give me enough time." He picked up a PADD and transfered the report from Alice to it. "I have to get those officers to their posts and then I'll double check things are alright in Stellar Cartography. If there is nothing further sir..."

Dylan smiled and shook his head. "No, there is nothing else." he said. "And thank you Runo."

Giving a salute, Runo nodded to the commander. "No... thank you. Its not everyday you get asked to head the honor guard at a friends wedding. Hope your bachelor party goes down in the history books." A slight grin breaks out on Dlya's face as he heads for the door, PADD in hand. Now bachelor parties were an aspect of weddings that Runo was more familiar with and yes, he did hope that Dylan's gave him so memories worth remembering.
