[USS Charon] SD241001.08 || Joint BackLog "Go away and let me fix that!" Part II || Cmdr Dylan Marcus, Lt Cmdr Sakarra Tyrax & a happy go lucky Galae engineer

<<Taking place around the first week of Charon's arrival at I'Rak Prime>>

[USS Charon, Deck Five]

"What I have done is remove the underlying issue so it no longer obstructs your repairs." If Sakarra were not a Vulcan, she might have smirked at the engineer's face. She was not fond of having her intelligence insulted, and despite his claim of not having tried to access the files, his insistence on doing just that had been painfully obvious.

"It will need to be uploaded gain of course, in the correct sequence. However,.." she quirked a brow when a familiar face emerged from a hatch and gave a polite nod of greeting "Commander Marcus. While it is certainly agreeable to see you, I had not thought this matter would draw the interest of the Security Chief himself."

The Romulan Engineer glared over at the Security officer and rolled his eyes. "More delays...Is it Starfleet's way to send more people to continue to complicate a simple problem." he said almost sullenly. It was bad enough that the Vulcan had ruined his work but now there was a human crawling in on them.

"It was a welcome distraction from the endless paperwork involved in getting Alice back online and seeing that our guests behave themselves." he said with a smirk as he nodded to the Romulan officer behind the Lt. "Truth be told, I was curious." he said. "But that crawl cured that." he laughed.

"Quite understandable. Both the curiosity and the cure, I should say."

Turning back to the engineer whose mood had certainly not improved a bit, Sakarra canted her head questioningly "You do not believe your repairs will proceed faster without a Vulcan protocol obstructing your access?"

Not to mention he could now focus on the engines rather than trying to decipher the file. And while Sakarra did not want to accuse the man of anything more than curiosity, she was definitely going to err on the side of caution under the circumstances.

The Engineer scowled at the Vulcan again. "Of course it will. Your so called upgrade has needlessly delayed my repairing of your engines. I can only assume that without the mind numbing pointless protocols and amateur splicing hindering my efforts this glorious piece of Federation technology will be able to leave Empire space soon enough." he said to them both. When he spoke of Federation technology he made sure to put the most venom and sarcasm into his voice as he could.

"Someone want to explain to me what is going on here?" he asked. Not sure what was happening

"Of course, Commander, my apologies. It would seem the alert that led both of us to this location was … accidentally triggered by the engineer trying to affect repairs. Some of Charon's engineers apparently saw fit to implement modifications during our … excursion in the nebula, and the unorthodox way in which they proceeded has caused undue troubles now. However I do not think there is a security issue, no?"

The later part was directed towards the now silently fuming Galae engineer. While his sarcasm was uncalled for, Sakarra could somewhat understand his annoyance that the interesting data had been so unceremoniously removed. But accusing the man of attempted espionage would only serve to … complicate matters. Not to mention the young Vulcan experienced a tiny spark of humor at his attitude. How unfortunate that he seemed to insist on using his quite aesthetically pleasing features mostly to express frowns and scowls.

The Romulan scowled again but he was nothing if not practical. It was time to cut his losses and get out of this situation without trouble."This is very true. It was merely a miscommunication due to unorthodox upgrades for your excursion into the Nebula." he said to them mirroring Sakarra's words. "Thank you commander but your no longer required here." he said dismissing the security chief unceremoniously.

Dylan frowned at the explanation. "It's certainly fortunate that the lieutenant arrived first." he said at first. "Maybe it's just me, but she is far more trusting than I am typically. I remember aerting up protocols for Romulan officers accessing restricted data. Care to enlighten the simple security chief why his protocols were not followed?" he asked looking to the engineer.

The Romulan engineer looked at him scowling. "My Leih was in charge of putting the protocols out to your people. If this hasn't happened take it up with the Captain of your ship, I like both of you am merely a servant." he said to him trying to pass it off casually.

Trusting? The young Vulcan quirked a mildly amused brow but kept her silence. Without proof the man had indeed tried to gain access to the data, the issue would hardly come to a satisfactory conclusion. And since Lanka-Gar had already erased itself, the danger of anyone else becoming too curious was averted as well. However, Sakarra was no security officer and if the Commander felt it wise to pursue the matter, if only to make a point, she was certainly not going to interfere.

"I was referring to MY orders that no Romulans be allowed to work alone while on this ship, and certainly not in restricted sections without the authority of myself or the Chief engineer." he paused. "I am aware of the... requests made of us by your commander. However, security on this ship is my domain, and I expect to be informed when those need access to area's that are off limits to unauthorized personnel. You don't like it take it up with the captain." he shot back, knowing his little comment would nag at the Romulan.

And indeed the Romulan looked less then pleased by that."I wouldn't demean myself by talking to that non person. And my dear chief of Security you would do well to remember that you came to us for assistance not the other way around. I obey my orders to fix your ship, if you want someone to chaperone me then assign someone and let me get back to work." he said to him narrowing his deadly black eyes on the man.

Dylan nodded. "Whom you speak to or don't is not my concern. It is true we asked for assistance, that does not mean however we simply allow you to poke around at your whim." he said before tapping his comm badge. "Commander Marcus to Falcon, Can you please meet me in computer access room 14 on deck five?" he asked as he eyed the Romulan just as hard as he was being watched.

Seeing as the Security Chief had matters well in hand, Sakarra decided she might as well take her leave and see to the unresolved issue of hiccupping power conduits that so vexed the young Betazoid Cyrin. Giving a friendly nod to the Commander, the dark haired Vulcan stepped towards the Jefferies tube access hatch and could not stop herself from throwing one last look at the engineer. Yes, he was looking at her and seemed to entertain the idea of wringing her neck.

For some inexplicable reason, she found it difficult not to smirk.
