[USS Charon] Joint Log, Lt Audrey Roberts, Cmdr David King, Cmdr Paul Jennings- Duty Log

Aubrey still laid on the biomed, unmoving. Her mind was active though, and was starting to awaken her body as well. Her body started to sweat. She could hear the light toning of the monitors that were connected to her. Right now she wanted to open her eyes, but she couldn't. Because of the smells and the sounds she heard, she knew she was in sickbay. But she didn't know why, and that's what bothered her the most. She vaguely hurt a soft soreness. She tried to open her eyes again, but couldn't. She tried to open her eyes, but couldn't. Her heart rate started to excel, her mind not liking that she couldn't move.

Paul Jennings had spent most of his morning working through the mostly-repaired sickbay recalibrating the biomed to Starfleet standards. He had just about finished when the observation alarms began going off from the nearby corner. Paul quickly set his instruments down and moved towards the curtain separating the comatose Roberts from the rest of the bay.

As he arrived Doctor Jennings immediately noticed how quickly her vitals were changing. She was either about to wake up, or she was on the verge of having a stroke.

"Nurse! Three CC's triptacederine!" he called out as he moved to check her pupil responsiveness.

Audrey's pupils reacted to the light, but she was still having trouble focusing. She tried, to move, but couldn't. Finally she was able to clutch her hand. She still didn't know why she was having trouble moving. She couldn't understand why she was in sickbay, only able to hear and smell.

"Lieutenant?" Jennings asked, looking down at her as he injected the hypo into her neck. "Can you hear me? Its okay, you're okay. Just try and relax."

Hearing the voice telling her to relax she tried. She was still confused why she was there. Moments went by that seemed to go on forever for her, but soon she was able to feel the use of her fingers. Slowly she tried to open her eyes again. She could see, vaguely. Things were hard for her to focus, but slowly getting clearer.

As several other nurses moved to assist Paul with her he moved a hand down to her wrist. Her pulse was strong and regular if a bit fast. But that was to be expected; she was probably frightened and confused. "You were attacked, Lieutenant. You've been in a coma for several weeks now. Just relax and we're going to take care of you."

Turning to another nurse he whispered, "Get Doctor King down here. Now."

She gave a soft cough, getting used to being able to control her own breathing. Trying to remember getting attacked but couldn't. Her eyes were slowly focusing.  She defiantly knew she was in sickbay now, but she didn't see David. Why wasn't David here? That worried her. She tried use her voice, but it wouldn't come.

"Don't try and speak," Jennings was saying as the doors to sickbay parted to admit David King, who had clearly just run there. Within seconds he was by her side.

Taking her hand into his, with his other hand lying gently against the back of her head, David watched her closely as he called out, "Blood pressure?"

"Elevated but stable," Jennings replied as he looked down at the biobed's display. "Looks like brain activity is returning within normal levels."

Audrey lightly squeezed his had, his face coming into her vision. She took a few deep breaths after anther failed attempt to talk.. Finally Audrey was starting to feel some strength coming into her muscles.. It wasn't anything like she had felt before, but it was something. Looking at David, she waited until he looked to her face before she mouthed, 'Your here.'

"Of course I am," David replied as he smiled down at her. Looking down at her and holding her, small tears began forming in the corners of his azure eyes, "Of course I am. There's no place else I would ever be right now."

Rembering that she had heard she had been in a comma for weeks. Weeks had gone by, and she couldn't remeber the attack. She still didnt know that she had lost her child, her and David's child. 'Am I going to be alright?" She ttried asking, but only could mouth again.

"Shh..." he replied as he stroked her hair with his free hand. "Just take it easy. You're going to be fine. I'm not going to let anything else happen." The small tears were now sliding down his cheeks. David had been sure he had lost her, that her death had only been a matter of time.

She nodded, feeling she couldn't do much more. She rested a hand on top of her stomach after much effort, her eyes asking the question, the question if theyr child was alright.

A great sadness fell into David's eyes as more tears fell. He tried to find the words to tell her what had happened, but could not find them within him. Finally all he could do was merely shake his head as he tightened his grip on her hand.

She clamped her eyes tightly, tears sreaming down her cheeks. She wanted that child, excitement had filled her every day and now she didn't have that. Audrey's hand squeezed his thightly.

David leaned down and kissed her forehead, "It'll be okay. We'll be okay."

A moment later Doctor Jennings stepped over and placed a hand on David's shoulder, "We need to run some more tests, David. There's no indication yet what damage, if any, has been done to her mental capacity."

"Fine," King replied as he straightened up, reverting to business. "Prep her for the imaging chamber."

Paul shook his head, "Sorry, David, but you know you're off this case. She's my patient and I promise you we'll take very good care of her."

She took a deep breath, tring to let it out slowly after she felt David's hand leave hers. Listening to what Jennings said, she knew there wasn't much that she could do at the moment, but let them run the tests, and hope that she would get her voice back soon. She had so much to ask.
