[USS Charon] SD241001.01 Transit Log Colonel Sam Thorten

The stars went by quickly, as was to be expected since the ship was still at a high warp velocity towards the eastern half of the Romulan Empire.  Sam hadn't been on a starship without being in command of something in sometime, several years in fact.  He looked over across the room he had been given.  VIP quarters.  A Marine in VIP quarters felt nervous, it was like living in a cavern, it was massive.  He sighed unable to figure out how to calm himself down Thorten saw the PADD he had been given during the end of his last assignment.  He was on a far flung colony in the Federation, border territory.  Any Marine Corp solider would have loved to have had the position, and apparently someone else was going to have it.

Having been the vetran of several wars he thought he could have possibly retired out there, maybe even making Brigader or Major General out there.  Colonel Sam Thorten shook his head at the turn of events.  They took away his men, his fighters, his tanks...  Everything.  Everything that he had fought so hard to get for the frontier base and colony gone.  Fuckers.  He was infuriated, incensed.  Why?  He had followed all of the rules once they had put him into ground pounder duty.  They were lucky too.  After he had left the warrior he had decided to go back to Marine roots...  Turns out that was a smart move, the rise of the Dominon had proven a need for Marine officers.

He poured himself another drink before relaxing back into his chair to watch the stars.  So why was he going out to the ass end of the Romulan Empire, that is what they called it again right?  Sam shook his head at the constant changing of names that the Romulans went through.  He had lost contact with all of his olds friends from the Warrior.  He often wondered what Captain Spearling was doing, or Commander Brin, or even Samantha...

Sam shook his head before relaxing back into his chair.  Things weren't the same anymore, they never would be.  However it wouldn't do to dwell on the past and everything that had happened.  It was time to dwell on what to do about this assignment.  An observer on a starship in the middle of Romulan space.  Sam hoped that somehow someway this would mean bigger and better things for him.  If not?  Eventually he'd have to retire if nothing came his way.  But for now...  He'd have to deal with the Charon.
