"Life In The Academy: Part III"
"Well I was going to prepare for your exam this evening, but if you would like to do something else I am definitely game," he smiled.
"Mrow, I am quite sure that the exam won't be too much of a trouble for you. I was thinking of finding a better place to our little discussion, but, if you prefer to prepare, we could continue later."
"Oh, I think I would like to continue our discussion, I have been studying for some time now," he smiled "What do you have in mind Lieutenant?"
She leaned a little toward him, her ears swiveling quickly, to make sure she wouldn't be heard. "I know of a nice secluded spot on the gardens, mrow. Nobody would see or hear us. Discussing while laying on the grass and sunbathing looks like a very good idea to me. What do you think?" She said, her tone low, almost whispering to make sure he would be the only one to hear her.
"That sounds like a good idea Lieutenant. Getting away from all this hustle and bustle would potentially be beneficial to both of us." Cyrin said.

"Come with me then," said Tamara while getting up and grabbing her padd. She led him out of the restaurant, and into the vast gardens of the Academy. Minutes later, they took a turn behind a building, and Tamara stopped dead on her tracks. "Murr? Looks like they recently redesigned the gardens..." She stated, as what used to be a secluded place was now open to everyone's view.
Following the Hirumarian Cyrin couldn't help but wonder where she was leading him. His hands were getting tired of holding the padds so he pushed them in his back pocket. "They did?" Cyrin asked as he had never been to the gardens before.
"We'll have to find another quiet place," she commented, while rubbing at her black striped muzzle, "know of any around, mew?"

"Well, I know of one spot
but I am not sure it is open anymore, or at least open legally at the moment." He was referring to a place on the grounds that were typically closed to cadets at all hours, "I tend to go there when I need some time to review or think."
Tamara nodded. "Lead the way then," she replied, not reacting to the 'open legally' part.
Cyrin lead Tamara to one of the fields were the Security Officers trained, going to the only known entrance when the field was closed he pushed his way in, and motioned for her to follow. "In here Lieutenant."
She followed him into the field, stepping silently behind him. She looked around, curious, as she didn't remembered this place. But, it shouldn't have surprised her, as she didn't follow the Security courses, but she followed the Operations courses.

"I found out about this place on accident one night when I was trying to get away from my bunk mate who was going on and on about what he had studied that day in his medical lab," looking for the spot of dense trees that was well hidden from view with some make shift benches from fallen trees. "AH HA, here it is." He lead her to the area before sitting down himself.
The striped anthro-feline followed him, looking around, curious, before she sat down on a fallen branch. "Nice place," she commented, her tail flicking slowly. "So, what were we saying already?" she asked him, having forgotten the subject of their conversation, while they looked for a nice spot to discuss.

"I do believe we were discussing the xenobiological differences as well as cultural differences in Starfleet and the role we play as pawns for Starfleet Command," Cyrin offered his memory not failing him.
"Quite correct," she said with a nod, while making herself as comfortable as she could on the fallen branch. "Well, mrow, to continue on the 'pawn' analogy, someone explained to me that, in the game of chess, pawns are often more important than many other pieces on the game board. I can't say that I remember why though, but I was amazed that such simple piece could be so important and have, at times, more value than powerful pieces such as the queen, for example."

Cyrin smiled as he took a seat himself, "The pawn in chess can essentially become a queen. Not only can you use it to out maneuver your opponent, but you can use it as well to take the fall should you need to protect the king."
Tamara nodded. "Seems like a really strategic game, mrow. However, in real life, it is not so easy to sacrifice a pawn, for anyone. Although, a Vulcan would probably reply to this by their usual motto: 'the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.' "She shook her furry head some, lying back down on the fallen branch, looking up at the clear blue sky, dotted by a few white clouds." I was never fan of such logic."
