[USS Charon] SD241002.06 || Joint Plot Log "In Umbra Veritas" Part II || Cmdr Dylan Marcus, Cmdr Jade Falcon, Lt Cmdr Sakarra Tyrax, Lt D'Vana Xavier

[USS Charon, Transporter Room Three]

Jet black eyes regarded the man in silence for several Vulcan heartbeats. How very ironic.

"Commander Falcon."

Sakarra briefly tipped her head in greeting, wondering if this human she had never met was indeed what his file suggested. If so, his arrival might actually be a fortuitous coincidence, provided he was inclined to aid in what he perhaps considered no more than minor mischief.

Safe to assume he had been alerted by power being diverted here, and had a sharp enough eye to have seen through the false tracks laid by both Sakarra and the engineer. Still, they would have to move quickly before they drew any more attention.

"Your timing is impeccable, my compliments. Unfortunately I must ask you to remain here for just a brief while and not inform anyone of our … presence" the young woman indicated the silent Security Chief and mildly exasperated half-Klingon with a nod "Until such time as Commander Marcus orders you otherwise. Unless…" this time her sharp gaze had a languid air about it, part assessment, part challenge "… you would care to assist in a matter which might require some … unorthodox methods. You are free to decline of course, and I should point out I will only make this an order if you believe your … unique talents could be helpful. Please decide now. "

Dylan gave Jade a look that was a combination of confusion and assurance. "I can hardly order you since I am just as in the dark as you are, but I Trust the Lieutenant and I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt at the moment." he paused. "If it turns out that it's needed, then You will be here to arrest those involved." he said simply

He was sensing a lot of intrigue with what was going on and was torn over it.  His better judgment told him to ignore the offer, arrest whomever would surrender and shoot whoever would not - on stun that is.  His curiosity, which had always been far more interesting than boring old 'better judgment', told him to see where this went.  No true commitment to any cause, of course, but that wasn't really the point at this juncture.  "Ok, I'm willing to see where this goes."

"For the moment, it 'goes' right here, Commander." Sakarra motioned towards the transporter pad next to hers and noted with an actual small tinge of amusement how the man seemed to alternate between curiosity and wary caution.

Once more, she glanced towards the engineer who by now truly appeared in dire need of a drink and once the Commander had positioned himself, gave a brief nod.

"Those involved? I hope you don't mean me commander, I've voiced objections as well." D'Vana smirked but her fingers moved over the console initiating the transportation of the Second officer to her destination that she'd already planned out for her to follow she also made sure that the band was low enough to not be detected right away...

[Deck Two]

They materialized in dark quarters, filled with the characteristic scent of Gespar candles and a high-pitched sound inaudible to all but Vulcan ears. Sakarra estimated they had 2.2 seconds.

A careful adjustment of her breathing took 1.6 seconds of that and then she answered the sound with a low, precisely modulated word, more breathed than spoken.

Immediately, a light began to blink on a small device situated on the room's desk and the young Vulcan motioned for the humans to follow.

The first obstacle was averted, now it remained to be seen if the little device would respond to a V'Shar override or cause all hell to break loose within the next five seconds.

"Ah. That I believe shall qualify as 'entering', though not quite 'breaking' yet."

Exhaling slowly, the raven haired woman let her fingers tap against the desk before looking up into curious green eyes, almost luminous in the darkness.

"Commander, we are presently in the quarters of Vulcan councilwoman T'Pelar, having disabled a sophisticated but somewhat outdated security device. We are about to commit another illegal act by locating and securing classified information, most likely stored on a portable device referred to as fa'ik tsorau-vel. It will be the size of an average terran book and most likely be found…" she pointed at a wall panel where a barely discernible glow indicated the presence of a force field "… there. I should be able to disable any countermeasures, but my skills in this area are inadequate. If you have any suggestions, they would be most welcome."

Jade set the phaser rifle he had grabbed from the small arms locker down for a moment to inspect the force field.  He had acquired a host of skills that were disliked, undervalued and generally frowned upon by so-called 'good citizens'.  One such skill was taking down force fields, a skill that had aided him during advanced department training for security back at the academy.  It also meant that he was kept up to date on advancements in security technology, such as force fields.

His eyes traced the static glow of the force field to its edge against the wall.  Often times the emitter was inside the field it emitted, made for a halfway decent defense, but where it failed was that it was often accessible by other means.  He was quick to peel away the smaller section of flimsy metal that guarded the walls inner circuits and wires.  There was nothing here to hack at the field directly.  The trick was an indirect approach.  Burying his hands behind the wall panel, he felt for the two things he was looking for.  A moment later and two crossed power cords later, the panel, and Jade, took a bit of a shock.  He tore his hands away from the wall, swearing under his breath as the field flickered and died.  He hadn't actually done that recently.  Now on to the safe.

Dylan watched Jade work. "Those are some interesting skills commander." he said glad the man was on their side. "What exactly are we looking for 'sir' " he asked wink at the Vulcan.

"The truth, Commander Marcus." Sakarra stated simply.

Hardly unexpected, the other human was decidedly faster than she could have been, but what surprised the young Vulcan was that her … accomplices seemed oddly undisturbed. Then again, they did not carry the weight of what she knew. Not yet.

"Suffice it to say, I am hoping to find proof that the Vulcan delegation has been … concealing vital facts from us." A few more colorful metaphors uttered in the vicinity of the safe caused a slanted eyebrow to rise, but thus far it seemed Mr Falcon was … having fun.

Fascinating.

Dylan didn't like what he was hearing. Was she holding information to protect them? Or was it deeper than that? He didn't know. He wanted to know what was going on. "How you doing over there Jade?" he asked quietly before turning to Sakarra. "What information exactly?" he asked. His curiosity rapidly being replaced by the fact he was security chief, he didn't like being out of the loop.

Jade listened intently to the conversation as he worked.  It was taking him longer than it should, but he hadn't done this sort of thing in years.  Not even while rescuing Seraphim had he really used this particular skill.  But true to the schooling given to him by Dahlia Gallat, he managed to 'pop' the safe open as it were.  A chill traveled down his spine as a result of his success.  His youth onboard the raider ship, The Vicious, was still something he struggled to deal with and such a task brought back many memories, good and bad.

He stepped away from the safe, deciding not to just reach his hands inside and grasp at its contents.  "Well that was harder than I remember," he remarked, more to himself than the others.

"It always is" the young Vulcan said in the same low voice, sounding so perfectly calm and reasonable not even another of her kind would have guessed what lay underneath.

With a nod of appreciation to Mr Falcon, Sakarra reached for the small device that immediately sprang to life and sent a tingling scanning beam over unmoving hands. Hardly unexpected.

"If I had any hard facts or evidence, Commander Marcus, I would have been pleased indeed to relay them to you." A swift confirmation of her identity to the data device was sufficient to result in a pleased humming sound and a small blinking light indicated that access was granted.

What sweet irony that this last and most sophisticated security lock had recognized her as 'family' .

Reaching into the depth of her heavy robe, the young Vulcan produced two data chips which neatly fit into access ports on the device that by now was sitting on a desk and immediately a small holographic screen displaying Vulcan letters began to glow, bathing the quarters in a deep red hue.
