[USS Charon] SD241001.13 || Back Log || "Darkness" Part III - Lieutenant Nathanial Doyle

Nathanial was unsure how long he had been falling, it could have been a few minutes or a few hours, time seemed to be imesurable in his current situation, what he did know was that he needed to find a way out, and that would only be possible with some engagement with the figure. His current situation was all the proff he needed to know that the figure had the power to get Nathanial out of here, wherever here was.

He also knew that there was only so much hypothesising that he could do in regards to how to deal with the figure, he needed another confrontation to gather more information. Nathanial began to think of the ways he and the figure could work together, the figure was motivated by something, what was it? Could he deliver what it needed?

"I know you are there, and I know you need me, so tell me what you need!" Nathanial said loudly into the darkness.

A few seconds passed and Nathanial could feel a change in his fall rate, it was slowing down, a few seconds more and he had stopped, floating motionless in the void. He looked down, as he did a floor materialized just below him, and as if a switch was flicked, gravity seemed to return and he fell the foot or so landing on the floor. He stood, and did a full sweep of the area around him, light was still averse to the space he occupied, but he was becoming accustomed to the low light, and was able to make out more of the section of space around him.

Just off to his right was a bench. He shruged, walked over and sat down, it had been the first tangible object he had encountered other than the ground itself, and feeling something substantial gave him grounding.

As if he had been there the whole time, the figure suddely appeared sitting next to Nathanial on the bench. Oh, come to admire the view? it asked pointing off into the distance. Nathanial followed the finger pointing, but was only able to see black and light, nothing more.
"Why yes, the way the light plays at the edge of vision in this particular part of the room is worth the time to take in and admire" Nathanial replied back to the figure. No darkness entered his mouth this time, and for that he was thankfull.

The figure seemed to pause for a second before replying. So did you have time to think Nate?
"Now that is an intresting question, as I am sure you were there with me, and knew everything I was doing, so why then do you ned to ask me?" Nathanial ended with a small smile.

Oh you think your so smart Nate don't you, you do realize I know your wit better than you do, I am your wit after all. isn't that right Nate? He ended with a wink.

Nathanial was taken aback by the wink, it was disturbing seeing his own facial expression delivered to perfection, and now he knew how un-nerving a Nathanial wink could be.
"If you really do know me then you would know what" im about to ask, and knowing that im going to ask it does it need an answer. Something like that Nate? The figure laughed.

Nathanial stood up,  he wasn't getting anywhere and he could feel his frustration building, he needed something tangible to deal with, he needed to test for limitations, he hoped there were limitation in the space he now occupied, for he was scared at the thought of a place with no limitations. He was a scientist, and science had been the strong backbone for Nathanials courage, having the laws of physics become inconcequential frightened him, heck having no laws at all would leave him in a situation beyond his rational control. So he began to run, he just picked a random direction, it didn't matter which way, as the purpose of this test was to test limitations, and not how well he could navigate.

The figure laughed as he saw Nathanial pulling away in the distance, make sure to take pictures! It jested.
