[Sickbay, Uss Charon]
Nikolai's recovery was going quite well with the diligent efforts of the Charon's medical team and the neuropressure of Commander Sakkara. With all that had happened to him lately he was amazed that he was able to sit up on his own. He stood infront of the double bars glareing at the railings. He was attempting to relearn to walk properly without the pain overcomeing him and forceing him down to the ground, so far it wasn't working as well as he hoped.
The tall marine gripped the cold metal rails and took a deep breath then set one foot foward. The pain was intense but he ground he teeth and tried another step foward. Just two steps in and the sweat broke out on his forhead, the pain and the effort of walking with his damaged body taking it's toll. He took another tenitive step foward and his knees nearly buckled under the pressure.
Nikolai growled and held on tight to the railing refuseing to fall, his knucles turning white with the force of his grip. Struggleing through the pain he rose back up straight and breathing heavily he started foward once more. He urged himself foward in his mind, calling himself weak and pathetic if he couldn't even make it to the end of the bars.
As he moved foward nearly like a zombie he thought about Rehu and how much pleasure it would give her to see him in such a weakened state. His fury rose at the thought of the Romulan and her condecending laugh that would grate even on a saint's nerves and pulled himself foward with greater force. Finely after five grueling minutes the massive Marine reached the end of the bars panting and sweating profucely.
The nurse who was watching him stepped over with a professonal smile and her clipboard. "Good work mister Chernienko. I think thats good enough for one day, we don't want you to over tax your system." she said politely to him.
Nikolai turned and looked at her and shook her head. "I am fine, I want to do more." he said and didn't give her time to argue as he slowly turned on the bars holding them for support and started back down toward the other side. The red haze of agony started to cloud his eyes and he staggered a bit.
The Nurse rushed over and grabbed his arm as carefully as she could knowing it would hurt him as well. "Please your not well enough to excert yourself this way." she said to him sternly.
Nikolai glared at her. "With the monster running this vessel if you show weakness you will be eaten. I will be able to stand on my own by the time I must see her." he said coldly and Contnued to try to move foward. The Nurse let out an exasperated sigh and rolled her eyes.
The Marine contenued foward grunting his eyes clenched tight to stave off the pain and after another agony filled ten minutes reached the end of the short bars. But at last he couldn't stand any more and collasped to the ground. The Nurse called for two orderlies and they lifted the huge man up and carried him back to his bed.
"That was compleatly unnessicary and foolish mister Chernienko...If you want to kill yourself do it on someone elses watch." the nurse said angerily. She checked his vital signs and injected him with a tranqulizer as his pain receptors were off the charts once more.
Nikolai counted backwards from one hundred feeling his consciencenss fading away. It might have been foolish to push himself to such extremes but if Rehu desided to come see her traitorus survivors he had to be strong and hard to withstand her harsh souless personality and withstand the urge to kill her.
