"We are in position now Sir, what do you want us to?" Alzan asked Thomas over the commbadge, the Ensign Replied. "On my signal open the hatch and shoot them, we will fire to distract them."
"Well it worked on us didn't it." He mused to the others next to him. Thomas hoped to himself the Romulans were susceptible to their own tricks.
"Ok go now." the three crewmates still able to hold a phaser all just started firing a second later he heard additional phaser fire, which was almost instantly drowned in a barrage of Disruptor fire.
His comm chirped "There are five of them now sir three more must have been beamed in! Alzan almost took a shot to the face, the hatch caught the worst but he took a graze to the shoulder. I've secured this hatch we can't go out there!" Brooker reported, Alzan's describing a very detailed and confronting description of those particular Romulans mothers preference in a mate could be heard in the background.
Thomas swore to himself and replied "Ok go back to the junction. Wait for us there we are coming back."
Quite done with guarding the magazine, Thomas grabbed one of the PADD's that had been discarded to the floor as part of their redecorating. Setting the 20 Probes to launch with their timers down to a minute after they eject.
They would still emit the pulse, just not from as far away as originally desired. With any luck with the reduced distance they would sense the Warbird that was basically sitting on the Charon and go give that vessel as much grief 20 probes set to 'angry' could.
Transferring the data he just inputted in the PADD to the console next to the Magazine he just had to get to it to confirm everything and initiate the launch.
Finally graced with what he thought a good idea Thomas started shooting at the door controls and yelling at the others to do the same. Hitting the first control it retracted the door shut. The effect was not so desired with the second one the unconscious Romulan's leg stopped the door from closing entirely, but it had to do.
"Help the two wounded to the Jefferies hatch and get in!" he yelled as he jumped up to the console wild un-aimed shots already coming from the gap in the door. Panicking Thomas hit the launch sequence forgetting entirely to confirm the alterations he had just made. The magazine began immediately making noises that satisfied him the launch was in progress.
Running back over he helped drag the unconscious scientist the final few feet and hoisted her into the opened tube.
Disruptor fire continued haphazardly firing back into the room the Romulans becoming more confident without suffering any return fire. Closing the hatch he heard the audible thumps of fire hit the door where his exposed head had been a heartbeat before. Locking the hatch door he informed those with him, his nerves breaking into his voice. "Back to the control room, now!" He holstered his phaser to help carry the still unconscious scientist and get everyone else with him back to deck C.
