[USS Charon] SD240911.07 - POV Log IRW Jahae "Bad Fortunes"

[IRW Jahae]

It was a black storm cloud- ominous and foreboding.  Erie'Riov t'Kenhrai stared at the viewscreen filled with awe and fear.  Not of the Charon- but Yy'a, the devilish nebula was a fearsome beast.  So many stories so many horrors.  'But he orders us into this hell?'  Kenrhai gritted her teeth.  It was almost too much that the governor had them slaughter those people, but now this?  She didn't care for that Federation ship or that traitor bitch, but to risk her own ship?  It was pure madness.  "Capture them."  She muttered aloud "if he did not have the governor's ear I would do us a good service and cut off his lips."

"And to whose ass would you glue them my lady?"  Her chief operations answered her rhetoric with a sly grin.

"Mind your station."  She corrected him but grinned at his comment "no one deserves such poison laced things on their bottoms- I will glue them to his own end.  Certainly something that is inflicted with such diarrhea deserves no better location?"  A chorus of laughter erupted.  She smiled at her crew but her eyes lingered on the viewscreen.  Green and yellows gasses glowing amidst an eruption of white hot energy sizzled past them as they ventured deeper.  The image was already beginning to fizzle a bit.  Her engineer was working frantically to keep it in line but she couldn't help but wish they would have let the Charon be.  They would certainly succumb to Yy'a.

A sudden lurch forced to her grip her throne's armrest tightly.  Her eyes widened as she watched a fiery piece of metal hurtle towards them.  "Evasi…" her words were cut short as the metallic piece slammed into their left wing.  The Jahae lurched again- more violently then the first.  Several of her crew members tumbled from their stations.  Heavy groans echoed through the ship's bulkheads as unseen forces pulled and tugged on the Romulan Heavy cruiser.  After a shower of sparks and few pieces of console shrapnel had their final say the bridge fell silent.  "What was that?"  She demanded; her nerves barely intact.

"We were caught on the edge of a plasma eddy."  Her science officer said- his cold tone breaking through the silence like a sword through bread "we are very lucky."

"It seems we are."  Kenrhai sighed allowing her facial muscles to relax.

"But the IRW Y'Hae was not so lucky."  Her tactical officer grimaced.  A thin line of blood dripped from a gash that was well hidden beneath his short black hair "it appears they ran into the eddy before us.  That debris likely came from them; the composite would correspond to a D'Jhimn class cruiser."

"Unfortunate."  Kenrhai didn't sound too distraught.  She knew the Leih of the Y'Hae and he was quite an ass.  His loss was no true loss to her.  "And what of our status?"  She looked at her operations officer.

His normal jovial look was gone "not much better.  Lra'den says the debris cut through several of the main EPS lines.  We have lost power to half our weapons due to that- however we have lost power to our other half due to EPS overloads.  It also means we will be without main power and propulsion until he can repair it."

Kenrhai shook her head "ridiculous.  Tell that old fvai to do whatever he needs.  We will remain here until we have power again."

"That is untrue."

She looked at her science officer- a menacing scowl gracing her expression "what do you mean?"

"We will be at the mercy of the nebula's currents."

She gritted her teeth "can this current bring us to any more of these plasma eddies?"

"Undoubtedly."

"Then it is more of a reason to make repairs sooner."  Her operations nodded at her comment and Kenrhai watched the static filled viewscreen image.  She turned away to study her bridge when one of the bridge officers spoke "Leih- Look!"

She turned her gaze back at the viewscreen.  It had flickered to life in the nano-second she had turned away.  Through its noise speckled image she could see two massive glowing rectangles, like burning eyes, staring at them.  She squinted, stood up, and slowly approached the image.  Her heart began to race "is that…" she turned to her tactical officer.

"Yes, Rekkhai- those are the Charon's impulse engines!"

"Prepare for battle!"  Kenrhai dropped back into her command chair- her thoughts were racing.  'We are crippled!'

"Forgive me Rekkhai but how?  We have no weapons!"

Kanrhai gritted her teeth.  'Damn Terrh!' she cursed "we have Gai'Shian!  Prepare to board their ship!"
