On: Lieutenant Acel'a had finally come off duty and was in her quarters, relaxing for a few minutes, before deciding where to go, or whether to stay in her quarters. Since she was going to be on duty the next moring, she decided to stay in her quarters and just relax. To be honest, whenever she did go to the Mess Hall or the Lounge, she was largely ignored, so it only made sense for her to spend some quiet time, gathering her thoughts and even reminisce a bit. One event Acel'a focused on, occasionally, was when she was instrumental in preventing an assassination of the Academy Commandant, by a small band of rebels, who thought he was too strict. In Acel'a's eye, the man was spot on, with discipline, even after the one time she faced it for being late to class one time. In her opinion, discipline was what kept everything in order. She modeled her own style of self-discipline after this particular Commandant and did everything she could to continue this style of self-discipline. When Acel'a first stumbled across the rebels' plot, she had been walking back to her dorm, from the last class, that day and was cutting across a grassy area, near one of the fenced-off gathering places. She heard talking and her sensitive ears began picking up key words, which aroused her suspicious. It turned out that one of the conspirators was none other than 4th-Year Cadet, Dirk Flaggon, who had oversaw her PT session two days prior. On a hunch, she activated her PADD's voice recorder and let it run, as she too, listened. Cadet Flaggon and three other 4th-Year Cadets were discussion final plans to set the Commandant up to assassinate him. This conversation lasted well over two hours, but Acel'a didn't care. Getting this "evidence" was more important. Acel'a managed to keep the PADD's functions muted, to avoid detection, by Flaggon and his cronies. When the conversation ended, Acel'a quickly made a beeline for the building where Academy Security was headquartered and informed them that she overheard an assassination plot. At first they didn't believe Acel'a, attributing the to an overactive imagination of an impressionable First-Year Cadet. When she presented the recording, they changed their tune real quick. Soon an in-depth investigation was begun and after several weeks, four arrests were made. Acel'a was placed under protective surveillance, until the subsequent trial and conviction was obtained. Needless to say, all four cadets were convicted of conspiracy to assassinate the Academy Commandant and Acel'a received commendations, by the Academy staff and Starfleet Security. As Acel'a thought back on this "defining moment", she began to wonder if Flaggon was still at Rura Penthe, or was he transferred to another penal colony. What she did not know, was that Dirk had escaped a mere three years after arrival at Rura Penthe. Only two others had done this, but they were wrongly convicted in the first place. Acel'a then turned her thoughts to other Academy days memories, before stepping out, only to go to the Mess Hall, to eat dinner. ===End Log=== Lieutenant Acel'a Assistant Security Officer USS Charon |
